Written by experienced thought leaders and coach teachers, this is the most comprehensive survey of individual and team coaching skills I've read. A great balance of breadth and depth. My sense is that emerging leaders, and very seasoned leaders or coaches will find more than one gold nugget among the pages.As books with multiple authors go, this is the best I've read: the editing and narrative is consistent, and the chapters flow and transition gracefully. On Becoming a Leadership Coach reads well cover-to-cover, and the chapters stand alone and can be revisited as specific concerns or interest arise in you.Though I enjoyed all of the sections, I should share some stand-outs: * the history of coaching was the most thorough and succinct I've read. The profile of coaching has really been raised on the last several years among managers and leaders, but there are still many people who would benefit from this work that are not aware of its existence. There are so many great passages that could be shared with leaders that would help them locate themselves, and see how coaching might give them leverage to reach their next stretch goal. * the exploration of what leadership is, the survey of this vast landscape, and no clear request (or insist) to subscribe to a single definition or methodology. Though I am not a Georgetown Certified Leadership Coach, their approach to "going meta" on coach training is itself one of the desired outcomes of coaching: taking multiple perspectives. The examples offered and rich and useful, and the invitation is "there is so much more: explore" * the value of using Somatics in your coaching, weaved through several chapters. * insights about using team coaching.I have added this to my list of resources for coaches and leaders, and look forward to sharing it for years to come.

I've just begun reading this book, and from page 1 it has shown evidence of being worth its weight in gold. The style of writing employed by the authors (all of whom are relative experts in the coaching field) enables the comprehension of very abstract and intricate ideas. Very satisfied.

This is a solid overview of coaching practice and theory, but it reads much better than "overview" implies. I enjoyed most of the chapters.

This is an excellent book by a group do wonderful coaches. The GW program is a good program and Clarice Scriber was my professional coach and she was wonderful.

I found this book to be excellent. I deeply appreciated the variety of authors and was able to identify some with whom I intend a personal follow-up. Christine and her colleagues provided a depth perspective on leadership coaching, a quality often sought but not always found in books of this nature.

The other reviewers said it well and I'll stress it too: AE is pretty complex, and therefore it is a great advantage to have a couple who is so well-versed in After Effects to not only explain the software but to make it mean something from a creative standpoint. That's probably the best attribute of this book. Even if you own CS6 it's all relevant. I'm well-versed in Premiere Pro and ACE certified in Photoshop, but a noob to After Effects and wanted to learn "the software" which is why I wanted this book. Wow, did I get more than I hoped for!

Good material but I'd strongly go through the AE Apprentice 4th version from the same author before tackling this one. The book assumes knowledge and you will be lost trying to do the exercises if this is your first publication on learning After Effects. Also it is dated and many of the functions may have changed names so prepare to do a lot of Google searching for current terms. This is my third book on After Effects and I am finding myself having to stop and dig into the SOURCES folder to pull up certain objects the author is asking me to transform. The layers he is asking to change do not present themselves in the pre-built compositions in the timeline so you have to add them manually form the SOURCES folder if you want to complete the exercises in their entirety. Example: On page 53 Chapter 3 the tutorial asks to select the CP_Spaceman.tif layer in the timeline panel from the Ex.08_starter composition. Look at my screenshot and I only have the Ex.08_starter composition as a whole, there is no CP_Spaceman.tif layer visible in the timeline. Looks like this was a pre-composed composition so I had to go into SOURCES and put the CP_Spaceman.tif layer on top in order to complete the exercise. If you pre-comp a multi-layered composition you will not see the individual layers anymore in the timeline so I'm assuming this is what was done.

This is hands-down, without a doubt, the best method of learning After Effects. I tried Lynda.com and failed. I then tried reading the user manual, and failed. I tried one-off video tutorials from the internet that gave me momentary successes, but failed to teach me the "language" of After Effects. This book gave me the breakthrough I needed to start my career in motion graphics. I am now a salaried motion graphics / instructional developer working in After Effects every day. I couldn't be where I am in my career today if I hadn't read this book cover to cover. Thank you Chris and Trish!

A comprehensive reference for the intermediate After Effects user. Beginners (and rusty users) would probably be better off starting with "After Effects Apprentice".The detailed descriptions of workarounds that allow Illustrator paths to be used as shapes, masks, and motion paths in AE have saved me countless hours of (often unsuccessful) trial-and-error. Thank you Trish and Chris Meyers!This book is still relevant for After Effects CC 2019, but I look forward to the release of the 6th edition (announced for Q4 2019). Hopefully my well-used copy will survive that long.

Don't be intimidated by the physical size and weight of this comprehensive volume. Once inside it's very reader-friendly, and I say that as a rank novice After Effects user. It's well-organized, crisply written and easily digestible for newbies like me without sacrificing depth and detail. Everything is covered. The exercises are focused, well thought out and take you smoothly, step by step, through each aspect of the software while putting your hands on every button, knob, switch and dial in the toolset. Almost no detail is skipped, which is remarkable considering how many nested nooks and crannies there are in AE's very dense interface. I'm using CS6, so it would be nice to have an updated 6th edition, but it's really not a problem, just a few small differences so far and I've been able to easily work around them.If I absolutely had to come up with a quibble, it would be that the book is printed on very nice coated paper stock, which makes it much heavier than if the pages were uncoated, and the ink is VERY prone to smudging, so I find myself going to rather tedious pains to place my fingers carefully when holding the book to avoid obliterating any of the text. I understand why they used coated paper, but it is a bit of a pain. I also would welcome a DVD-less next edition, preferring to retrieve project files via browser from an online server (and skip the plastic disk that has to be stored and disposed of someday, and can also be easily damaged).I have no problem recommending this book without qualification.

Great book, just don't buy it for the Kindle!!!!! This book has great information for both seasoned users as well as beginners alike. What killed me was the fact that the book has been purchased by a different publisher. The book has not been updated to reflect this change. The email addresses and web pages provided for you to get the files you need to complete the lessons are all incorrect. Once I finally got hold of someone (took a week) they informed me that they would have to send me a disk as they are not set up to make these files downloadable. They are happy to send me a disk. While this is all well and good I must admit I am a bit annoyed at having spent $44 only to have a book that is totally unusable for at least two week. False advertisement in my opinion.

Great Book! I wish I had known about this book when I started with AE. If this isn’t the first book you get on AE, then it needs to be the 2nd. This book goes into great detail on how to use the various features and options in AE. I don’t think I’ve read another book yet that provides such clear instructions on how AE works, how to configure settings, and when to use certain features and options. It’s a must have for all users of AE.

About the Author

Robert Cameron has been a photographer since 1921 when his father gave him a "Brownie" camera and encouraged him to use it. Cameron is now in his 90's and has published 16 of his "Above" books. He was a photographer for the Des Moines Register in the 1930's. Cameron learned the art of aerial photography during World War II, while shooting pictures of military installations for the War Department. Cameron is a member of the Royal Photographic Society and a member of the Presidents Council of the International Center of Photography. His work has been exhibited in Paris at La Bibliotheque Historique and the Foundation Mona Bismarck. In New York at the International Center of Photography, the New York City Municipal Arts Foundation. In San Francisco at the Vision Gallery, City Hall and the Pacific Center for Photographic Arts. In Chicago's O'Hare airport. In China at the New Gallery of Art in Shanghai and at the Forbidden City. Cameron is currently working on his highly anticipated new book "Above Mexico City".

I've never been to Seattle, so this book was a real treat for me. It is more a photography book than a text, and looking and reading through it is better than watching a HD documentary about the city.I've never been to England, either, so I've now ordered a copy of Cameron's other book, "Over London". I only hope it's as good as this one.

This book has some cool shots of Seattle, but they are a bit older. I was hoping it had some photos of the Seahawks Stadium, but I guess all the photos were shot before it was built. Worth the $2- $5 but I wouldn't spend much more than that on it.

Seattle is set in a very diverse geographical region. This diversity provides for ample breathtakingly beautiful and lush photographs of the metropolitan area. Lakes, mountains, trees, islands, bays, rivers - this area has it all and is cleverly photographed in this Robert Cameron book. The book is fairly up to date although citizens or connosieurs of Seattle may notice the dated-ness of the book by the conspicuous absense of some new construction in the downtown area and the changing condition of other areas of the city. If you like pictorials, this is a great one to own and probably one of the best of the Seattle Metropolitan Area. I highly recommend it.

This is one of Robert Carmeron's last books and it is one of his best. Seattle really lends itself well to this kind of photography, the city is so naturally blessed. The photography in this book is classic Cameron and the photos are so vivid. I recommend this book to anyone with an interst in this beautiful city or just an interest in great photography in general, you won't be disappointed.

Everybody who has any relation to Seattle should have this book! To people who live there it shows their city from a different point of view. To people who like to get a detailed impression of the city and its close environment I really recommend it ! But this book (in my eyes) is not made for people who look for a "tourist guide".

I bought this book as a gift for a coworker who recently got engaged. The front and back covers look exactly as advertised, but the pages inside look terrible. The font on the headers of each page looks like it was a picture that was stretched too large and all the letters look pixelated. I paid extra for two day shipping because the item isn’t prime, and I’m super disappointed I did. I’m not sure I can gift this gift now because the quality is so crappy.
