About the Author

Liza Baker is a children’s book editor and the author of several books for young readers, including two previous titles illustrated by David McPhail, I Love You Because You’re You, and Mama’s Right Here. Liza lives in Westchester, New York, with her husband, Aaron, a Lieutenant in the New York City Fire Department, and her three very busy young sons, Gardner, Byron and Caleb.David McPhail was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He attended Vesper George University from 1957 to 1958 and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School from 1963 to 1966. He has been an illustrator of children’s books since 1967 and an author of children’s books since 1971. He says he enjoys writing and illustrating as much as he did when he began.

It's really important to me that my kids believe they are worthy of love no matter the state they're in. This book highlights that so beautifully; "I love you when you're angry... I love you when you're wild... I love you when you're sad...... I love you when you're playful..." It is just this mom telling her little one that she loves him always, in every state. The rhyming is wonderful and the illustrations are perfect for the feel of the book. I bought this to read to my little ones on Valentine's Day and then over and over again. It's simple text, easy for them to understand, yet still conveying the profound message. I really love this book. Buy it, read it, let your children know they are loved UNCONDITIONALLY, simply because they are them.

I got choked up the first time I read this to my little one. Such a sweet little story, perfect for bedtime or any time. I am always saying "I love you no matter what, and I will always love you." This book is so specific and spells out all the ways that a parent loves a child unconditionally. It's helpful for instilling a sense of security that a child can never lose your love, no matter what. So sweet! And the illustrations are beautiful.

This book was recommended to us by a friend and my husband and I absolutely love reading it to our son before bedtime. We love how it teaches both parents and child the importance of unconditional love. Parents should make their children feel their love and acceptance for who they are early in life so they too will learn how to value and love themselves.

my children and I LOVE this book! It truly is our favorite ... the pages are fairly durable ... I give this book out at every baby shower I attend. We found this book before my last child was born, and we started reading it to him from day one. We have multiple copies so that when we are traveling or someone is away, we send a copy and keep a copy, when it's time to read it, we call up our missing family member and read together. The last pages in the book say: "I love you any way you are, and no matter what you do. I love you, because you're you."

If I had a nickel for every time he calls someone or something "stupid", I'd have at least $100. His ego rivals Kanye West and Donald Trump. Most of the book is "this is why I am the best" "this is why I know more than you" "if they listened to me, they'd still be in business" "if you don't apply SCRUM you're stupid". Like dang, buddy, save some ego for the rest of us. The "SCRUM System" he developed genuinely seems like it's helpful and applying it to our everyday work will be beneficial, which is why I gave it 2 stars. But every chapter he says "I'll explain more about SCRUM later", which is annoying considering I was reading this book to learn about SCRUM, not about the all-mighty Sutherlands achievements. The process seems efficient, the writing is obnoxious. If he had written a 2 page manual about applying SCRUM, he would have accomplished twice the work in half the time...

Why did I choose this book? Its the premier book in scrum created by one of its founders. And it had fantastic reviews.Do NOT listen to people who say "it doesn't teach you how to implement scrum." yes it does. There is an appendix implantation guide at the end and the "why" and "how" all throughout the book.What was my experience reading the book? It was a very easy read. The voice of the book was pleasant and flowed well.It told of the history of scrum and how each role, each event, and each artifact developed and now what the best practices are.This book will get anyone up to speed on scrum.Would I recommend it to others? Of course, if they want to learn scrum, this is the bet place to start without a doubt.

Boring book, does not teach you anything about Scrum itself. Couple of methods here and there are thrown in there without giving further explanation, but the whole book is basically about how Jeff Sutherland is the man. Jeff created this, saves this company, helped this person the title of the book should just be called Biography of Jeff Sutherland. Also throwing in the book just bunch of random quotes and examples of other books and stories that were just Googled probably to add it to the book. The main point of the book could of been explained on 1 page. Waste of $20

The first thing to know is that this isn't a detailed guide to Scrum practices, though there is a summary of the key practices in an appendix. Since there are lots of guides to Scrum at the practices at varying levels of details, having more about what the practices are would not add a lot of value. This book does inform you about how scrum works by helping you to understand the value of Scrum through stories of Scrum in use in various domains, and not just software.. The book is full of war stories (both literally and figuratively), and Sutherland is clearly proud of how he, his family, and organizations he has worked with, have applied scrum. Reading this book will help energize you to use Scrum to help your team succeed. This is not the only book on Scum you need. But if you want motivation to explore more about Scrum, or if you have been practicing Scrum for a while and are looking for renewed inspiration, give this book a read.

Many Scrum books discuss the "how". This book focuses on the "why". I think it's very important to understand the "why" before trying to worry about the "how", so if you're new to Scrum and are thinking about diving straight into a book discussing the processes, I recommend taking a step back and reading something like this to understand where Scrum came from, what problems it is designed to solve, and how it is applicable to your situation, if at all.It gets a little over-ambitious towards the end, and tends to view Scrum as a silver bullet, which it is not, but the discussion in the first half of the book is great.
