About the Author

Jenny Baranick has dedicated her career to achieving what many would consider impossible: making writing lessons fun and exciting. She hopes that the readers of her first book, Kiss My Asterisk, enjoy the feisty grammar lessons. She’d like to think that her students at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where she taught for ten years, were inspired by her lessons on the thesis statement and a properly employed semicolon. She hopes that the attendees of her business writing workshops can’t wait to share their newly acquired understanding of email etiquette with their colleagues. She’s sure that her husband appreciates how she constantly corrects his grammar in front of his friends and family. And she’s positive that her two-year-old daughter enjoys their nightly readings of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style.

Before reading this book, I would have probably pooh-poohed the notion that it's possible to write a book that integrates grammar lessons with laugh-out-loud political anecdotes. I would have been wrong. The author manages to do just that, and in an extremely clever, well-written, beautifully executed manner. Her political snark is spot-on for the most part, but occasionally veers into not-very-nice territory, which some... especially Republicans... may find offensive. There was a handful of typos in the e-book, but the only real formatting issue occurred in the sixth chapter, where most of the third column in a chart comparing two of Ms. Palin's speeches was missing.All-in-all, this is a fun and informative read for just about everyone, except for maybe Sarah Palin herself. Then again, she's so busy reading "everything" to keep up on today's issues, she probably won't have any time to read this book.Four and a half stars, rounded up to five.

The best way to learn is while being entertained, right? I love the author's playful writing style and the way she uses the words and speeches we've all heard to clearly show how writing should be done correctly. I also appreciate how she uses Palin (and others) to show that rules are sometimes made to be broken in order to have the best effect. The fact that I was laughing through this whole book may actually help me remember this stuff! Highly recommended!

I loved this book! I found myself giggling while only on the first page and the writers wittiness continued throughout the book making me laugh along the way.I can honestly say this book was very insightful in terms of grammar as well as teaching many other fun facts. I highly recommend this book, as it is a good and fun read as well as educational. Let's face it, we can all use a little polishing in our grammar and writing, unless of course you teach grammar ;)

This is a hilarious and educational book, I would recommend this for anyone regardless of their political affiliation!

Highly anticipated and eternally grateful for this original work on lessons in grammar. This is a refreshingly entertaining and clever book and not to be missed. The only agenda offered in this book is to make us better writers and communicators. Thank you.

The supercilious Jenny Baranick has written a grindingly boring book on Sarah's Palin's fractured syntax. This book is actually a direct attack on Sarah Palin's political views. Ie, the book is more political then about grammar; Ms Baranick has a right to dislike Sarah Palin but, to disguise this book as 'what we can learn from someone who doesn't know right from write' is disingenuous. The same people who dismissed the Gipper/ Ronald Reagan as shallow and anti-intellectual are also against Sarah Palin. The ivy league, elitist loons just don't go away. There's nothing wrong per se about poking fun at Sarah Palin. But Ms Barancik's book is nasty - - certainly not "hilarious" at all - - as advertised.

Love it! If you are a teacher, educator, or parent, you need to read this book. One of the hardest things in education is making the experience fun, funny, entertaining, and informative. This is rare, and when most writers try, they fail. Jenny doesn’t do that. In Sarah Palin's Expert Guide to Good Grammar: What You Can Learn from Someone Who Doesn't Know Right from Writ, Jenny is able to impart vital lessons in writing and speaking well. This is clever, funny, but most importantly you will walk away laughing and learning.

From the moment Sarah claimed she could see Russia from her home, I knew Alaska had found a real winner, and not a grammatically correct one at that! Jenny Baranick's humorous portrayal of the ex-Governor is spot on, and will make you laugh no matter what side of the aisle you sit on. A funny way to learn what "not" to do in order to keep off the bad grammar list, highly recommended for a fun read or lesson in keeping your public speaking and writing in check.
